Being selected to be apart of Ariel and Matt’s wedding day was no small feat. Matt is a radio host in the Boston area and we’d met previously at a King’s event. During Rachel’s contract in the Boston area we were able to do their engagement photography session in Gloucester. My initial meeting of Ariel and Matt told me that they were going to be a lot of fun on their wedding day and they did not disappoint. Needless to say, we had a blast capturing their The Elks at Bass Rocks wedding photography!

Rachel and I flew in to Boston from Denver while we were between contracts. We opted to stay in Boston for a week and hang out with our good friend Jessica, who is on a travel NICU nurse contract there. When the day arrived we were so excited to drive up to Gloucester and celebrate with them! Our day with them began at The Elks at Bass Rocks which sets right on the beautiful east coast shore.

BOSTON WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

We arrived early and began to get pictures of the setting and decor that had been set up. As the bride’s maids and the bride began to arrive we transitioned to get pictures with them. As they sat in the bridal suite getting ready we got to know everyone and capture some smiles. Once Ariel’s hair and makeup were ready it was time for the dress! She glowed as she dawned the dress and we couldn’t help but pause for a quick mini session with her.

Matt and his groomsmen arrived just on time and it was time for the first look! When we had arrived we had looked around for places to shoot and decided that the coast was the best option for the first look. We place Matt on the rocks facing out to the ocean and had him await the arrival of his bride to be. She gracefully scaled the rocks down to meet Matt and meet her groom. They loved on one another and shared their love for one another.

GLOUCESTER WEDDING PHOTOS

We took this moment to grab some individual shots of each of them before bringing down the bridal party. With the bridal party on the coast we took some formal shots and then brought in family. Ariel had a little surprise for Matt as a wedding day present and this was a prime location with everyone around. Matt is red and green color blind and Ariel had found some glasses that show red and green colors and surprised him with a pair. She wanted Matt to be able to see her in color on their wedding day and it was a beautiful moment to capture.

With the ceremony start time drawing closer we all went back to the bridal suite to hang out. There was time for a toast and some last minute makeup touchups before heading out to lawn. The time had arrived to come down the aisle and express their love for one another. It was a beautiful ceremony with lots of laughter, love and cherished moments. After the ceremony we all moved indoors to begin the reception where they got to mingle with all their guests. During this time they went outside to grab a photo with Matt’s producers and we followed for a few photos.

MASSACHUSETTS WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

We kept it quick so we could get them back inside for their first dance together as husband and wife. For their reception they opted to serve some delicious pizza to all of their guests and it was so good! After they had eaten we snuck them outside for some more photos as the sun set on the coast. The indoor location had a beautiful chandelier inside that we shot through for some fun pictures before heading outside. The sun was glowing just perfectly on them as we had them stand together on the rocks. The sun setting made for some beautiful The Elks at Bass Rocks wedding photography with these two!

With toasts about to begin we brought them back inside for some laughs and hugs. After the toasts concluded they began the dancing portion of the evening with dances with their parents. Once the dancing started there was no stopping them and before we left for the night there was even crowd surfing. It was such a blast being apart of their wedding and sharing in their special day together, congratulations Ariel and Matt!
