BURG ELTZ MATERNITY PHOTOGRAPHY

Getting the opportunity to drive up to Burg Eltz is always a privilege. It is a bit of a drive from Kaiserslautern so we do our best to group sessions together there. We did however have a cancellation and we still held our commitment with Ariel and Christian’s Burg Eltz maternity photography session. Leading up to the date the weather was back and forth, as it always is in Germany. On the day of however the weather was perfect with a little cloud cover. Cloud cover is always great with sessions during the daytime as the clouds defuse the direct sunlight making it less harsh.

I met with Ariel and Christian at the parking lot and we walked down to the castle together. The shuttle wasn’t running as the castle was technically closed and the gates were closed. There were plenty of people there still however so we began our Burg Eltz maternity photography session in a field. The field is a little hard to get to but it provides a great spot that you won’t have people in your shots for. After we got some great shots here I gave an option to hike up the hill. It’s quite a hike up but the views are worth it if you’re game for a little hike.

Once we got some shots here we went back down to the castle entrance together. They were setting up lighting around the castle so there was a van sitting in our way. It gave a shortened space to work with and there were still a lot of people taking photos around. So we went back on the trail just to side for some shots. Usually we can find a window or a break to grab photos at the main entrance. The other option is to photoshop people out but this particular trip had a lot of obstacles.
