This was one of our 3 favorite local spots to take photos while living in Germany. Neuleiningen was close to where we were living in Kaiserslautern and was about 20-30 minutes away. It has castle ruins, which look better from the autobahn, and a beautiful village vibe. It also has a great overlook of the wine region of Germany. This is a great day trip area if you’re in Kaiserslautern and has some fantastic places to grab wine and food. There is a Michelin star restaurant here as well to eat at, which we were sadly never able to do. The village has cobblestone roads throughout and has the traditional timber framing architecture. There’s not much of the village to explore and you can make your way through it an about an hour or so.

With our time coming to and end living in Germany we set out to get as many sessions in as we could before leaving. So we offered mini sessions at some of our favorite local spots. We knew we had to offer some Neuleiningen photography sessions before leaving so we made a post in the local Facebook groups. Everyone we got to shoot with today we’d done sessions with before so it was nice to see them again before leaving. Our first session was with the Lynch fam, they had become friends during our stay in Germany. Piper had done Rachel’s eyelashes for when we did our elopement shoot in Italy (both times).

KAISERSLAUTERN MINI SESSIONS

They really clicked so we invited them over to our Oktoberfest party and knew we wanted to hang out more. We didn’t get to hang out with them as much as we wanted but we definitely had some more fun times together. With them being friends and them having done so much to support us we did a little longer session with them to thank them. We went to Neuleiningen early that day and showed up at 7:30am to start shooting. I’d never shot here that early so it was a change of pace finding angles to work with the light. I ran through a few normal spots I liked to shoot at before we drove out to shoot in the local vineyards.

We had discussed combining the session to make it a couples session but also more of an intimate boudoir ish styled shoot. We got some great shots before we all went back to Neuleiningen for the next session. The next session was with their friends, the Tellez family. The Tellez family were also PCSing around the same time we were and were also pregnant. So we incorporated some maternity photos and some couples throughout the village. For the next session we met with the Snowden family who we got to do Christmas market photos with. It was great to get to see them again and get photos with their family. The Keegans were next and she had just graduated so she was wanting some graduation photos.

RHINELAND PALATINATE PHOTOGRAPHER

She brought along some champagne to pop and spray along with all the normal graduation garb. The next session was with the Robinsons. I got to shoot with them for some Christmas market photos and they were a blast to work with. They’re fun and all smiles and we had lunch together before the next session. The last Neuleiningen photography session was with the Rollyson family who I’d done a shoot with before. We love this little hidden gem close to Kaiserslautern. It’s a great village vibe and gives some great German vibes without traveling too far. It also has some of our favorite wine there, a dornfelder.

We’d love the opportunity to come back to Germany and do photos here. If we get enough interest we would definitely make a trip back. We’ll also be running mini sessions regularly so if we’re in the same area check in with us. If you have an idea for mini sessions we’d love to hear from you and we can coordinate to add in more mini sessions!
