NATIONAL MALL MATERNITY PHOTOGRAPHY

Check out our Washington, D.C. maternity photography sessions for more sessions like this National Mall maternity photography session in the area.

The Berlan family got in touch with us early on when we didn’t know where our next assignment would be. We knew we were looking to be on the east coast but didn’t know where yet. We advertised in Washington, D.C. thinking we’d go down and visit there if we weren’t in the area. Before we knew it we had inquiries with the Berlan family looking to do a maternity session. Once we’d discovered we were going to be in Boston, we quickly realized how far of a drive it was. We knew we’d have to plan a few sessions together and that’s exactly what we did. This was the first session in DC the morning after shooting an engagement session in Philadelphia the day before.

When I arrived the night before it was a nice fall evening, mid 60’s, light breeze. From Denver, Rachel got me a place to stay and ordered a pizza to arrive when I got into town. Even from from away we take care of one another, she’s the best! I figured we’d have some great sessions the next day with good weather. It dropped over night into the 30’s and the wind picked up. When I was out to meet the Berlan family it was slightly gusty and a little cold. Meika planned ahead though and knew what the weather was up to. She had also mapped out the area she had wanted to get her National Mall maternity photography.

WASHINGTON, D.C. MATERNITY PHOTOGRAPHY

We began in the newer area in DC being built up near where the Nationals play. It was a beautiful new area with lots of new buildings and settings to work with. We shot on a bridge to start and went around that area for some different shots before around. There we got some pictures in the middle of the street with the nation’s capitol in the background. We wandered around the east side of D.C. for a bit finding different locations to take pictures. Meika stopped occasionally and would point out a house she wanted a picture in front of. We wrapped up our session together at Riverby Books on East Capitol and 5th. We had a great time getting to meet the Berlan family and work with them to get some beautiful photos.

Washington, D.C. has so much history and I loved getting to come back down and visit the area again. I welcome any opportunity to travel to new locations and to work with you in your area to capture beautiful landmarks and beautiful settings in your photos. Contact us and let us know what’s close to you and let’s discuss working in a session near you!
