When we first got to Germany I wasn’t sure who we were going to be able to work with. It was a whole new world moving to Germany and I wasn’t sure what to expect. Michael made a post looking for a photographer for his product, Beautifully Warm. He was doing a shoot at a local park to capture some video and had a couple models on hand. I offered our services and he had me come along to shoot behind the scenes as well as shots with the models. It was a really fun afternoon getting to work with him and the video crew. After that shoot we kept in touch with both of us wanting to work together again. His beanies are definitely unique with the satin lining inside and he was just an all around great guy to work with.

Through the years of covid restrictions we stayed in touch. He sent me a message and asked if I’d ever done ghost mannequin photos before. I said I hadn’t but I could figure it out if given the chance. So he brought over all his stock and a mannequin head and let me get to it. The first round didn’t go as planned and I went back to the drawing board and made some adjustments. It’s pretty hard to get the effect with beanies. It’s a combination of photos for the ghost effect where you can see the inside of the beanie. The first shot was done with the beanie on the mannequin head.

PRODUCT PHOTOGRAPHY

The head was turned to the side to give a bit of an angle to the beanie. The second shot was the beanie inside out essentially and pinned up to show the “interior” of the beanie. With the two shots I was then able to combine them in photoshop to give the ghost mannequin beanie photography full effect. Satisfied with the sample I sent I moved forward with the rest of the beanies. This was definitely a fun challenge to work with and I’d love to do more ghost mannequin beanie photography shoots.

If you’ve got products you’d like photos of we’d love to chat with you and partner with your vision. Whether you’re looking to showcase your product on a live person, in a studio setup or a ghost mannequin effect we’d love to chat. I’m also previously a graphic designer and still love to put those skills to work when I can. If there’s an idea you’ve got shoot us a message and we can chat about setting up a trial shot. I’m always open to giving new concepts a shot and working to get the best final product.
