It’s always a challenge when you move to start building a client base again. On top of that when we first get to a new location we don’t know all the best spots. Megan got in touch with us through our Facebook business page and we began conversation there. They wanted something with fields and more of a country vibe for their engagement photos. With us being in Tennessee now we figured there wouldn’t be a shortage for settings like this. After some conversation we initially went with shooting at Port Royal State Park. When we got there on the day of the shoot we figured out they close the park pretty early. There was still plenty of daylight left so when we got there and the guard was closing the gates we were confused. We drove around a little to see if there was another way in but there was just the one entrance we could find.

So, we began to drive around. First stop was an old barn in front of a field. We parked on the side of the road and walked into the field and did some shots next to the barn. Then I had them walk through the field together before we went back to the cars. We kept chatting as we drove around and we saw a farm off the side of the road we stopped at to get more photos. They had corn fields, which is what we were looking for, and a barn of sorts right off the road. We were a little timid at first thinking we were going to get the boot. For the most part we stayed just off the road, we did wander onto the edge of the corn field. We were very respectful and careful not to damage any plants.

CLARKSVILLE ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY

After the shots in the corn field we went over to the fence bordering the road. This provided a nice backdrop, that was also relatively safe without being intrusive. After that we went across the street to get more of the barn in the picture. There were fences and fields and we stayed between them as to do our best not to trespass. These shots came out fun and we took a number of shots here. Before leaving this spot we did some photos in the middle of the road with him giving her a piggy back ride. We also did a few with them dancing in the road before heading to the next spot. The next and final spot for this field engagement photography session was on a railroad track. I know tracks can be dangerous so I was very alert here. There was a long straightaway so we could see in both direction for a mile or two.

While here we did some with them holding each other and then sitting on the rail. After that I had them walk the rails and hold hands smiling at each other. The last shots I did for their field engagement photography session were close ups of the ring and a little more intimate. We’re new to the Nashville/Clarksville area and we’re always up for exploring. I’m pretty good at thinking on my feet so if an initial spot or idea doesn’t work we can always brainstorm to find something that will work. If you’re in the Clarksville area and looking to do an open field session or engagement photos we’d love to chat. Shoot us a message and let’s talk details!
